PLACES TO GROW

Places to Grow is a provincial discussion paper outlining a vision for the future of the Greater Golden Horseshoe and a strategy for how to get there. Over the next 30 years, the number of people living in the Greater Golden Horseshoe is projected to grow by an additional 4 million people.

OHBA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 2004/2005

As part of the OHBA Annual General Meeting held at Deerhurst Resort on September 29 th , the Executive Committee for the 2004-2005 Board of Directors was elected. The following dedicated volunteers will be your industry representatives for the OHBA Executive Committee:

OHBA ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Thank you to everyone who attended this year's Annual Conference at Deerhurst Resort in Muskoka. It was certainly a year to remember with ideal weather, a very special guest Honourable John Gerretsen, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and the inauguration of OHBA President Daniel Gabriele.

OHBA and the Niagara Home Builders' Association invites all delegates to the beautiful and brand new Niagara Falls Casino Resort next year at the OHBA 2005 Annual Conference, Sept 27, 28 and 29.

2004 OHBA RESOLUTIONS

This year 14 resolutions were tabled at the OHBA Annual General Meeting in Muskoka at Deerhurst Resort on Wednesday September 29th. Of these, 14 were carried. For copies of the 2004 Resolutions package call OHBA at 1-800-387-0109.

2004 AWARDS OF DISTINCTION

The 2004 Awards of Distinction honoured the cream of the crop in the residential construction industry in Ontario. The awards night was a tremendous success. For a list of the winners, please visit www.homesontario.com.

ANDY BRETHOUR 2004 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Andy Brethour, President of PMA Realty Group was presented OHBA's Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2004 OHBA Conference in Muskoka. He was honoured for dedicating his life to serving the industry that is his passion. Andy has served as a board member and executive committee member at all three levels of the association. He is a past chair of the GTHBA, OHBA and CHBA Sales and Marketing Committee founding both his local and the National SAM Awards. Andy is an ambassador for our industry and is an icon in new home sales and marketing.

MIDHAVEN HOMES WIN ONTARIO HOME BUILDER OF THE YEAR
Midhaven Homes captured top honours at the 2004 Awards of Distinction at Deerhurst Resort. The prestigious award is among 24 categories in the Awards of Distinction program, which honours innovation and excellence in the areas of design as well as sales and marketing among Ontario homebuilders, renovators and new home marketers.

  • Local Association of the Year: Greater Barrie Home Builders' Association
  • Roof Topper of the Year: Al Harrigan (Sudbury)

OCTOBERFEST HOUSING TOUR

Building on the success of the housing tour in Niagara, OHBA has announced another tour for Thursday, October 21st. Discover the allure of Elora, Fergus, Guelph and Kitchener-Waterloo. Participants will visit award winning sites, enjoy lunch at the Elora Gorge and dine at Langdon Hall. Your hosts for this day will be Darlene Fraser and Rick Caravaggio.
