OHBA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 2005 / 2006
As part of the OHBA Annual General Meeting held at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort on September 28th, the Executive Committee for the 2005-2006 Board of Directors was elected. The following dedicated volunteers will be your industry representatives for the OHBA Executive Committee:

PRIVATE MEMBERS' BILL 141: THE HOME FIRE SPRINKLER ACT
Private Members' Bill 141, The Home Fire Sprinklers Act is officially "dead on the order paper". Heading into the fall session of parliament the election of a new speaker has been scheduled for October 11th and a Throne Speech is scheduled for October 12th. The House has been prorogued with some select bills on the order paper being carried over. Private Members' Bill 141 was not among those carried over. The Office of MPP Linda Jeffrey has stated that the member will re-write the Bill and re-introduce it in the new session. OHBA will continue to monitor the situation.
OHBA ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Thank you to everyone who attended this year's Annual Conference at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort. It was certainly a year to remember with ideal weather, a very special guest Honourable John Gerretsen, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and the inauguration of OHBA President Victor Fiume.
OHBA and the Niagara Home Builders' Association invites all delegates to return to the spectacular Niagara Falls Casino Resort next year at the OHBA 2006 Annual Conference, Sept 26, 27 and 28.
2005 OHBA RESOLUTIONS
The 2005 Awards of Distinction honoured the cream of the crop in the residential construction industry in Ontario. The awards night at the Avalon Ballroom Theatre was a tremendous success. For a list of the winners please visit www.homesontario.com.
WILLIAM DOCHERTY SR. 2005 OHBA LIFETIME ACHIEVMENT AWARD
William Docherty Sr. a two time OHBA Past Present (1976-1978) was presented OHBA's Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2005 OHBA Conference. He was honoured for dedicating his life to serving the industry that is his passion. He and a handful of very courageous and dedicated members formed the Ontario New Home Warranty program and he also served as the President of the Greater Windsor Home Builders Association twice. Three decades later he is still working hard for the industry and the association.
MIDHAVEN HOMES WIN ONTARIO HOME BUILDER OF THE YEARN
Midhaven Homes captured top honours at the 2005 Awards of Distinction at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort. The prestigious award is among 24 categories in the Awards of Distinction program, which honours innovation and excellence in the areas of design as well as sales and marketing among Ontario homebuilders, renovators and new home marketers.

TOOLS TO SUPPORT INTENSIFICATION REPORT
OHBA released a report offering positive suggestions to assist the provincial government in achieving ambitious intensification targets as part of the provincial growth management strategy. The Tools to Support Intensification report includes potential tools and concrete solutions for the development industry to ensure the intensification goals of the Places to Grow growth plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe will be achievable.
