This four-day tour will feature local guides, meetings with housing, planning and building officials, architectural walking tours, development site tours, and networking with fellow members.
Day 1 – Sunday, May 15
- 6:15 PM – Meet in the lobby at Grand Hotel Wien
- 7:00 PM – Welcome Reception and Dinner at Grand Hotel Wien
Day 2 – Monday, May 16
- 8:00 AM – Breakfast
- 9:30 AM – Smart City Aspern Guided Walking Tour: The 2.4 million sqm project combines the input of Vienna’s municipal authority; technology and energy businesses; and a network operator. Set to be home to 25,000 people, the development is planned to be near completion around 2030.
- 12:30 PM – Lunch at historic Schweirzerhaus
- 2:00 PM – WU Campus Architectural Walking Tour: A smorgasbord of 21st-century architecture, with signature buildings by Zaha Hadid, Hitoshi Abe and Estudio Carme Pinós. The world-class campus has equally high standards for energy-efficient and sustainability.
- 7:30 PM – Dinner at Plachutta in historic Vienna centre
Day 3 – Tuesday, May 17
- 8:00 AM – Breakfast
- 9:00 AM – Passivhaus presentation and site tour. One of the most rigorous, voluntary, energy-based standards in the construction industry today. It is the most common standard used in Europe.
- 11:45 AM – Lunch at Wiener Rathauskeller with guest speaker
- 1:15 PM – Vienna Smart City Strategy: Meeting and presentation with the municipal planning department at Vienna’s City Hall
- 7:00 PM – Dinner at Ristorangte Sole
Day 4 – Wednesday, May 18
- 8:00 AM – Breakfast
- 9:00 AM – Viennese Mélange – New Meets Old: A UNESCO world cultural heritage site. The walk crosses the historic city centre with explanations to the urbanistic development from the Roman origins to contemporary architecture
- 12:30 PM – Lunch at Glacis Beisl
- 2:00 PM – Central Station area and Sonnwendviertel: The demand for a high-capacity hub for international train lines triggered a newly built station, which now is at the center of a multi-modal traffic hub. The quarters surrounding the railway station are situated between three densely built-up districts that we will visit on the tour including a couple of hybrid tall-timber and concrete buildings
- 8:00 PM – Dinner at Celemtine im Glashausat Palais Coburg
Day 5 – Thursday, May 19
- 8:00 AM – Breakfast – Guests can depart at any time
DELEGATE PACKAGE
- Registration includes three full days of housing/development/energy site tours and architectural walking tours
- 3-day transit passes (we will utilize the city subway system) to visit transit-oriented developments in different part of the city
- Four breakfasts, three lunches and four dinners including a welcome/orientation dinner on day of arrival
- Four nights’ accommodation at the Grand Hotel Wien
SPOUSAL PACKAGE
All day-time housing tour activities and lunches will be restricted to fully registered delegates

EXCLUSIONS (applicable to both Delegate and Spousal)
- OHBA is not arranging airfare.
- OHBA recommends members book their own flights to arrive in Vienna by the afternoon of Sunday, May 15 to join the group for the welcome and orientation dinner that evening.
- Members should arrange their own departure from Vienna anytime on, or after Thursday, May 19.
- Transportation to and from airport is not included.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Proof of full vaccination (2 jabs) OR proof of past infection (medical document needs to show date of recovery)
- AND a negative PCR test (valid for 72 hours) OR proof of a booster jab
- PCR Test is valid for 72 hours. The certificate must be issues by an official medical authority and include date and time the test was performed.
- Booster is valid from the first day.
** Entry for touristic purposes or business travel is NOT possible without quarantine if you cannot meet the requirements above (2 x vaccinated + booster, or 2 x vaccinated + PRC test)
FULLY VACCINATED STATUS – ACCEPTED
- Two dose vaccinations are only valid for 180 days from jab.
- If 1 x Johnson & Johnson, you need booster to gain “G-2” status
- Booster vaccination is valid for 270 days from jab.
PROOF OF VACCINATION
- To prove your “2-G” status (vaccine passport) you can use the NHS COVID app or EU Covid Pass.
- Printed versions and medical certificates of vaccination or recovery are also accepted but must be in English or German.
PCR TEST – REQUIRED
- 2 x vaccinated (or 1x vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson)
- The first dose of Johnson & Johnson is currently still valid to enter Austria, however, during your stay, you need a booster jab to gain 2-G status (fully vaccinated)
- Recovered
- If you have recently recovered, your PCR test might still turn positive. Therefore, if you have recovered within the past 90 days, you can use a medical certificate (including the date of recovery) as a substitute for the PCR test. Please fill out the required form if this applies to you.
- Recovered, then 1 x vaccinated
- 1 x vaccinated, then recovered
- Pregnant women and those who cannot receive the vaccine for medical reasons can enter by showing a medical certificate AND a PCR Test.
